I’ve been drawing all my life, mostly portraits. I study faces for composition and emotion. I enjoy putting my ‘eye-thoughts’ to paper and putting a smile on the owner’s face when they see the results.

My Gallery is limited because I rarely made copies in my early days and a house flood destroyed my portfolio of originals. Check out my Portraits and Sketches, and let me know if you’re interested! Commissioned work is WELCOME!

The world is changing…more dramatically than we’ve known in our lives. I’d like to think the changes will result in a more positive future for all of us. The earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and tornadoes are wiping away massive bits of earth life and the humans who occupy these regions. Do I feel apprehensive because I am older? When I was growing up the planet was calm and everything seemed great and good with all of the best things in life possible.

Now, with more blatant news reports of tragedies and inhumanities, I feel the wrenching of the physical plane. This physical disruption is affecting my emotional serenity. I accept, reluctantly, that I can’t control the world, but I can not accept uncontrollable emotions. I have practiced this control for many years. It has eased my way through death, loss, pain and cancer. I’ve ventilated my shell for life’s pleasures not life’s insanity. It’s like acid rain on my soul. My light projection is losing intensity. My power connections are corroding.

Raising my Entity Fists!!! Where is my Dream Umbrella?! I want to see the NEW FUTURE!! I want to see the promises not the defeat. I need to take care of MY world. Expand the beauty in life.

Expand my mind and let go so that I can fly!

Northern Virginia is displaying its gorgeous fruit trees in bloom. We have whites, light pinks and fuchsias all brightening up our neighborhoods and office landscapes. For some reason my own trees seem to lag behind everyone elses’ but that’s OK because I get the extended view!

Updates:

My company was acquired by Raytheon in early November. Exciting and scary too! But, so far, we’ve been continuing along pretty much the same as usual except we DID move into a new building, in the same area, with lots more space for expansion. The move had been in the works for a year prior to the acquisition because our lease was expiring. Our management knew they wanted more space for our growth because we’ve been doing quite well for the current economy. I love the new space! Its quite bright, though some programmers love their dark ‘work holes’, and we got all new furnishings and cubes that give us a bit more working room. We have wonderful kitchens and flat screen TVs in the common areas that run news all day. Nice to glance at when passing by to keep up with the World Events! I just got a new, faster, work computer that, I hope, I got all my software installed on over the past couple of days. I do such a variety of work functions that my 3 year old computer was freezing up from lack of CPU power. No worries with that now! We’ve got windows surround us and I have one right at my back so I can check the weather and road conditions when we have snow. AAAHHH, Life is GOOD!

Bit of health scare recently. Had a little red bump removed from my right eyelid that turned out to be Merkel Cell Carcinoma, a very aggressive form of cancer. So, another Dr.’s appointment tomorrow to see if I need further tests to eliminate the possibility of any spread to lymph nodes. Staying positive and ‘seeing’ a clean outcome. I was lucky with past cancer but chemo is unpleasant and I really don’t want to be bald again. Wearing an itchy wig for months is tiresome. NOT COMPLAINING SPIRITS!! I am LUCKY, I AM lucky, I AM LUCKY!!!!!!!!

I need to get back to my meditations! I try to visualize my day every morning and remain positive in support of our fellow humans and our planet. I suggest everyone do this as much as possible. We all are responsible for our world.

We are what we think, We are what we do, We create our reality, We CAN fill the world with LOVE, WELL BEING and PROSPERITY! Remember, there is more to prosperity than having lots of things and money, pleasant as these things are, give yourself EMOTIONAL PROSPERITY!!!

Fall is my favorite time of the year. I think, because I was born in October, I prefer the coolness, the landscapes and the aromas that come from apples in the orchards, fresh mulch in the gardens and wood burning from fireplaces. Maybe its the feeling of settling in for the holidays and the coming year. Its sensory comfort. Its new cars. Its new TV shows. Its a new school year. Its NEW possibilities!

Make new friends.Create something new. Read a new book. Visit a new museum. Smile at EVERYONE! Your life WILL change! Your view of the world will change. Happiness just might invade your space!

Jamie and I went to the Baltimore Tattoo Convention this past Saturday. What an EVENT! We enjoyed it thoroughly! We got to meet some of the artists we knew from Facebook and local shops. We met some fascinating new artists and we got matching Bluebird Ink from Whitney Schiller of Studio 42 Tattoos.

Loved looking through the art books at everyone’s different styles and creations. One of my favorite moments was talking to Paul Roe from BritishInk Tattoos. He was an excellent speaker and business manager, very gracious and FUN to talk with. It was a long day at the Sheraton but well worth seeing all the INK and unique items for sale at the vendors.

I think we’ll go again to the Baltimore Convention and maybe to some new Ink Shows too. I just LOVE all of the ART! GOOD TIMES!!

THANK MY GUIDES AND ANGELS ~ Its OVER!

The past two days were spent moving my daughter and her roommate from their, very funky, typical college old Richmond apartment to their new, very modern, very clean 2 BR, 2 bath apartment in a secure building. They are very lucky and very happy to have such a beautiful place so close to everything they need for school and living. A BIG MOM YAY!!!!

My Move Rant:

It was so bloody HOT during the move! I was only helping to put things out of the way in the new place, put some things together and clean some of the dusty things from the old place, but the new apartment AC wasn’t cooling very well and it stayed at 76 degrees all day. I was pouring sweat all day, with nothing to eat or drink. The movers did a crappy job AND ripped us off for an extra $100 they never mentioned in our booking them or during the move, so the girls and a young man friend finished up 3/4ths of the move of boxes, bags and misc. lamps and electronic bits like cables. cords and power strips. Luckily the young man worked in AC and checked the AC filter (which was installed incorrectly for access) when the move was almost done and found it totally clogged with gray dust and dirt. He washed it and put it back, with a bit of struggle.

~End Rant~

We then went out for some dinner and WATER, and had a fantastic waiter who brought us all huge mug after mug of ice water. I told him when we ordered our sodas and juices that we’d spent all day moving so he went all out with kind service. After we were done eating the waiter offered us 2 extra sandwiches that, he said had been made incorrectly and that he couldn’t eat because he was full. THAT WAS SO NICE! This is a restaurant familiar with starving students and I’m sure he must have known there would be no food in the new place until some shopping was done. WHAT A SAVIOR! THE VILLAGE CAFE has great food, with breakfast all day, and great service. I WILL RETURN!!

Now I am able to relax back at home with my wonderful family and my doggies. I’ve arranged to have the next few days off from work to relax and spend some time with Jamie before she goes back to Richmond and college full time. Her roommate is able to enjoy the new apartment by herself for a few days with her little dog, which she has not been able to do before the new place which allows pets. Jamie will be taking her new dog, Louise, an Olde English Bulldog, back with her too and we are confidant that the 2 girls will get along. Louise & Molly, new buds!

We are all blessed to have a safe, beautiful place for the girls and a comfy home base. Jamie’s best friend, from her early years in VA, is back from Provo after several years separation. What a wonderful time they’ll have reuniting and planning their future! Life IS Good!

Things are quite green this year with the past Winter’s record snowfall. Beautiful and HUMID!. I’m not a fan of East Coast summer. So few days are pleasant enough to enjoy being outside. Since I’m a fairly early riser, I do get to read on my deck while drinking my coffee and enjoying the cooler air. My home is higher than those behind me so I get a great overview of the tree lined community path edging the backyard. Almost feels like a tree house.

Last night I met a new friend who enjoys INK as much as I do. She has more than 5 times as many tattoos as I do. She started a bit earlier and also has collected some from her travels around the world. We are closer in age than my other Inked friends. We also share the same INK artists so that is how we met. Charon Henning is our current MOST EXCELLENT artist and is quite a fascinating person. She is known as The Most Dangerous Beauty Alive. Please visit her site and enjoy all the unique content, you will definitely be amazed and intrigued.

This evening Charon will be doing some new art for me, and, my new friend will join us for another evening of INKY FRIENDS camaraderie. After being marooned for the entire Winter and much of Spring in my house – JUST FEELING STUCK and LOGEY – it’s been wonderful to go out JUST FOR ME , AND to meet a new friend.

I’ve also tried to be supportive and helpful to my OTHER artist who now resides in California. She is going through a divorce and making a new life for herself in LA. Though we’ve never been close friends, I’ve always admired her personality, strength and talent. She did a wonderful tattoo for my daughter a few months ago and was quite kind to her in the process. Fortunately or Unfortunately, depending on your point of view or reference, her EX did Jamie’s first tattoo. He was just as kind and talented and I’ll never forget that. Hopefully time will heal their wounds and their friends will be able to forget the awkwardness of co-friendship. I admire them both for their beginnings and support them in their futures.

ON TO THE FUN DAY!

Today my husband turns 62. He, along with many others at this age, refuses to discuss his age. But I think he’s gotten better with age. He has become a better person and a terrific husband. He is kind and generous. He has an easy laugh and now takes his time with life. We have had a fun and rich life together and we have a smart, beautiful daughter. I believe much more love and life are to come for us. I believe he will accomplish all of his dreams because he pursues them with enthusiasm and confidence.

I am so glad he lives here in our home sharing his thoughts, aspirations, dreams and goodness. He warms our home with his love and laughter.

I Love Larry!
